10th Round,
No empire last 1000 years. In a match for the record Zheng played vs Hongzhi. Hongzhi won the first set and was looking like he will keep his unbeaten record but then Zheng came back stronger and Hongzhi could not do anything to stop Zheng in his impressive come back. In another match Minhua got the first set against Lucian but then Lucian recovered and got the victory. Erie has a back injury and really wants to get back to play as soon as possible. Luca got his hand burned but will be back to play next round. See you all next Wednesday May 7th in the official last round.

7th Round,
This round was full of cancelations for different reasons. However the two matches that took place where worth watching in a gorgeous day. The first set in Zheng vs Erie match went to Zheng and then in an impressive come back Erie got the next two sets to obtain a significant victory against one of the best players of this tournament. For the record, the match Zheng vs Erie took 2hours and 50minutes to complete. Then Rhett vs Tijiang was a fun game to watch. Rhett is starting to put his game together and defeated Tijiang, quickly. Tijiang definitely could have done a better job if fittiting more fiercely difficult balls.

6th Round,
In a chili night several important game took place. Hongzhi vs Lorrie a very much expected match finished with a victorius Hongzhi, however Lorrie still has clear chances to be the best player of the tournament. Tijiang vs Minhua was a tight game really tight, Tijiang won the first set and Minhua won the second set so everything was to be decided in the third set, unfortunately Minhua was feeling tired and Tijiang wasn't making forced errors, so he took the win. We were also very happy to see Jin playing vs Luca. Jin is improving her tennis and Luca got his first victory of the tournament, congratulations! Funny Pictures courtesy of Minhua and Erie.

5th Round,
Beautiful day for playing, sunny, dry and refreshing. Rhett and Minhua performed nicely in a match that could have gone into a third round if Minhua would have had less unforced errors. Minhua's backhand was very strong and right on inbound-edge all the time to make Rhett run for it. Rhett's play was consistent and so took the lead. During the second set the game was 3-3 and Erie was cheering as loud as possible but was not enough to make Rhett lose concetration. In other match Lucian played versus Hongzhi and it is the most impressive battle so far, it went into a third set, oh yes. However despite Lucian's improvement in his precision he could not beat one of the still undefeated players of this tournament. On Sunday in a make up game Xiaolan impresively upset Luca which although showing meaningful progress could not contend to Xiaolan powerful forehand. Other games will be make up during the week. 4th Round,
Very good games on artificial light again. Despite her defeat Erin keeps making progress in her playing skills. Lucian was seen very happy after conquering his first victory of the tournament. Minhua rescued valuable points against a strong undefeated player; Zheng. Lorrie still unstopable upsets a clearly improving Luca. In a clash of Titans, Hongzhi accrued his second victory of the tournament, Tijiang will surely come back stronger after this one, like the saying goes "What does not kill you, makes you stronger". 3rd Round,
All american and all chinese matches were the highlights of this new set of matches. The american battle between Lorrie and Rhett went to a tie break to decide the winner in the second set, on the other hand the chinese battle between Minhua and Xiaolan showed and incredible display of energy and almost needed a third set to obtain the winner. 2nd Round,
In an exciting second round players displayed wonderful technique and clearly showed how much they like Tennis. We are also glad having Lorrie back from Europe to join us, today after her game versus Minhua Lorrie was teaching Xiaolan and Minhua some tennis technicalities (see picture). We really appreciate this friendly spirit. Thanks Lorrie.

April's fool
We are now 24 competitors. This morning 6 players from Chemistry wanted to join the tournament so I thought is okay. Then, 6 more players from Biology also wanted to join so I also said okay. Now we are 24 players and probably we will also play doubles. So we will be busy pretty much until October Fest.

Due to Xiaolan's brilliant idea we were able to contact Sam Bear (Assistant Director of Facility Operations at the Reily Center) and he was kind enough to book all Saturdays in April for us from 3:00 to 7:30 pm. So for Saturday booking we don't need to call no more!!!

1st Round,
The Physics Tennis Tournament started successfully in a cloudy but fantastic day for playing. The inaugural game Rhett vs Zheng was very much expected and fullfilled all expectations. At some point during Rhett and Zheng's game rain developed but both players kept going showing their incredible enthusiasm.Thank you Rhett and Zheng, for a fantastic inaugural game. Other players were also seen practicing during the tournament kick off, specially these three beautiful ladies (see right picture).
